Excessive heat

  • Excessive heat developing in a machine is a warning that something is wrong.  This might include poor meshing of gears, excessive wear, or poor lubrication of bearings.  The heat is therefore a warning of impending failure of a greater level and as such, should be heeded.  Identify the source of the heat and then investigate the underlying cause.
