Shaft vibration

  • Excessive shaft vibration can be a result of damage to the shaft leading to imbalance, or misalignment in the bearings or drive.  Vibration testing can be used to provide an indication of the likely cause, which should then be rectified, so as to minimise any further damage.  Torsional vibrations may also be possible, which can be a result of the resonances in the system, or incorrect backlash.
