Failed bearing

  • Bearings will normally fail due to fatigue or excessive wear, which is demonstrated externally by noisy machinery, vibrating machinery, or excessive heat; and internally by flaking of the active bearing surfaces.  The root cause of this failure must however be ascertained and is likely to be a result of inappropriate bearing or lubricant selection, contamination, inadequate or excessive interference, or poor assembly/maintenenace.
